Feb 14, Projects on Countries Best Sites so Far

So our projects are coming in thick and fast. The latest is to study a country of choice.
The best sites I found so far for readable info for children are the Oxfam site at http://www.oxfam.org.uk. Follow the links to the countries you are interested in. The cover the countries that Oxfam is active in.
Another great one is http://www.sos-childrensvillages.org. They have a wider variety of countries and some more in-depth info.
The e-project sheets will be coming soon for Spain, South Africa, Vietnam, China and Switzerland.
Hope these are helpful.

Nov 13, End of Year Approaching

The final months of the year are here and these are also the most testing - pardon the pun. It's hard for parents and students as all are tired from the constant effort through the year.

Revise first thing in the morning after breakfast for any tests coming up for the day - you will retain this information much better than if you try to memorise it before going to bed.

Exercise - try to get an early morning or evening walk in - great for parents and students. While gaining exercise and fresh air it's also a good chance to chat about the world, universe and everything else like acne, that mean girl who keeps chasing me, that mean boy who keeps pulling my hair, and any other topics of discussion that often get pushed to the side in the day to day rush. It's cheaper than the gym and family friendly - the best things in life are free.

Some of us are getting to the end of the year and realising that well, uh, we haven't really done our best. So what to do? Look at tutoring programs - begin now to gain the confidence for next year. Get some extra work to do over the holidays. I know like we have any hope, but just a little can do a lot especially when the kids are, you know, BORED, it happens, about the second day of holidays.

There are some great maths and spelling programs available. I haven't personally used these yet but will be looking into them soon and will let you know which ones I think are best. Stay tuned.

Interested in Australia? The project books are now free to download.

The Sea project book has been added - also free to download.

I finished writing Space, but haven't uploaded it yet. It will be available soon.

No short story competition this year but would love to see any stories written that your child would like published on the net.

Read any good books lately? Always looking for the best reviews from our student readers - keep them coming in guys.

Good luck for this final term.

I've found one idea for science projects you may find helpful.
